Veil.

Veil.

A Poem by Aehr

She wore her brokenness like antique jewellery,
Like something fragile and old, too precious to lose.
Like rubies burning - a thousand souls churning,
Guised as a common glass stone, painted red.
She hid the passion of her wrath under smiles,
Under peaceful yet firm movements, under a blurry veil
Of plainness.
She wore her brokenness like antique jewellery,
With flames of rage dancing underneath -
Waltzing to the dark, bitter tunes of hungry revenge.

I think everyone can associate with this poem in some form. We all hide away our insecurities, our flaws, and each day we wake up we take them with us wherever we go, unseen but not forgotten. A beautiful short poem with great description and structure.

I think we all do this to a degree. We all wear veils of some sort. I love the way you've fleshed out the idea with graceful-sounding imagery & much originality. I especially love the first 2 lines, becuz we've all known those people wearing their hearts on their sleeve & you painted an amazingly accurate & fresh word picture.

Amazing story told in the poetry. I like the veil. Mystery is wonderful. I like the poem. Felt a secret being whispered to me. I like the honest tone leading to the strong and sad ending. Thank you Rhea for sharing the excellent poetry.
