MoondanceA Poem by Aehr
"Dance with me," said he, holding out his hand,
"Oh dear but I am weary," said she, her feet in the sand. "The moon- ah the moon, it shines down so bright, To light the sea and the shore, black water and grains white. Oh dance with me darling," he said, his eyes glowing silver-blue. She smiled, as he twirled her 'round, her tiredness flew. Barefoot, they went on, their soles bruised and brown, No music to time their turns, or decorate them with sound. Till the moon died-and the sun made the land stretch and yawn, Only blood from the lovers' feet on the sand-the rest of them was gone. © 2016 AehrAuthor's Note
