The Day

The Day

A Poem by Aehr

The day something takes away
The greens that I love so much,
And the same something sweeps away
The blue of the oceans and seas,
If something freezes the amber of sunset
And turns it to a lustrous grey,
And the same something tricks the flowers
Into losing their hues, petal by petal.
That will be the last day I see colour
That will be the day I breathe my last breath
That will be the day my eyes become too heavy
To open again.
That will be the day I give up on you.

I love this. The way you used the word "Something" Is powerful just because I felt like it was left up to me to figure out. I think the worst thing you can do in a poem is spell out everything, it gives the reader no way to imagine. Great work, keep writing.
