A Quiet Whisper To The Stars

If my stars decide to be nice tonight,

And grant me one desire

I will not ask for money, or silver and gold

Or to flee a predicament that's dire

I will not ask for more wishes, 

Or for happiness that has no end

I will not ask for eternal beauty

Or the revival of a deceased friend

I will not ask to feel treasured

Or for a gentleman to kiss my hand

In fact what I have in mind,

Isn't for many to understand

All that I will wish for, dear stars

Is a turn back in Old Father Time

And a quiet evening to myself

Back in the days that were so sublime

All I will ask is the temporary surety of life,

The way it previously was

And with these words, I shall end

With my quiet whisper to the stars

I haven't written a poem in ages! Was just thinking back to those days when the poet in me was still alive, and this was the result. Reviews are welcome. :)

Very well... summer slows things down and offers some time to read, review and write. How are you, Rhea?

I'm okay. :) Sadly my summer is ending, though. Here in India most of the students are done with their vacation. School opens on Monday. Back to the drill. I've been a lazy kid, didn't really do much. Ah well, I await the monsoon showers. July and August both are going to be full of rain. I don't mind it very much, really. I love the smell of petrichor. :)

At this point in the year, my city, Philadelphia, shows its swampy origins. It is hot and humid day and night. But, I get out each day for a long walk (usually in the morning) and revel in the calm... :)

My sister and mother go out for a walk in the evening while I'm at my tutor's, so sadly I don't get to walk haha

I can totally relate my current mood in this poem. That feeling of wanting to grasp the past because it's so much better than the present. This was beautifully written. I personally like the message. Sometimes, we just have to accept the reality that things/relationships do not last forever and the fact that we have to face certain events that will just probably make us wish for a time machine. Great work. :)
