A Quiet Whisper To The StarsA Poem by Aehr
If my stars decide to be nice tonight,
And grant me one desire I will not ask for money, or silver and gold Or to flee a predicament that's dire I will not ask for more wishes, Or for happiness that has no end I will not ask for eternal beauty Or the revival of a deceased friend I will not ask to feel treasured Or for a gentleman to kiss my hand In fact what I have in mind, Isn't for many to understand All that I will wish for, dear stars Is a turn back in Old Father Time And a quiet evening to myself Back in the days that were so sublime All I will ask is the temporary surety of life, The way it previously was And with these words, I shall end With my quiet whisper to the stars
