Perfectly Imperfect

 I’ve always wanted a boy who could write me a cheesy love song

Who would mess up with the words and then ask me to sing along

Someone who would hug me from behind when I’m having a bag day

And understand what I’m thinking without me having a word to say

 

I’ve always wanted someone who would make me dinner when I’m tired

And tell me that I’m pretty when I need to know that I’m admired

Someone who knows when I need to be told that I’m missed

Who knows exactly when I’m sad, and need to be kissed

 

I’ve always wanted someone who knew how to dance

Whose eyes are charming enough to put me in a trance

I’ve always wanted someone who had a thing for cooking

And I always preferred someone who was immensely good looking

 

Whoever thought this day would come and that you would come at all?

That you’d be the opposite of my fantasies, but for you I would still fall?

That I’d fall in love with everything " from the way you walk,

To your way of conversation, the ridiculous way that you talk?

 

Whoever knew that you and I would just seem to click?

That our meeting was nothing but Aphrodite’s trick?

That everything would just make sense someday

That you’d be perfect for me in your own imperfect way

This is a great way to put it, Rhea. The person who is perfect for us is far from perfect - but that makes him all the more endearing. Very nicely penned!
