Dear Friend...

Dear friend, I know it’s been so long

Since I’ve written to you

But there are a few things I wanted to say

So I thought I’ll send them through

 

You see pal, there’s something wrong

I’m dying every single day

I’ve been suffering from something called Cancer

And I just have a week left anyway

 

Remember this, my dear old friend

Now you’ve got two lives to play

And I know that I am leaving soon

But I’m not going up there today

 

So tell that man that I loved him

And ask him to try not to cry

Tell the other guy, that I’ll miss him,

And tell him that this isn’t a lie

 

Tell my Mom that she’s been amazing

And the most beautiful woman I’ve known

And tell her not to leave my little sister

Because I can never bear to see her alone

 

Tell my father that he’ll be my hero

Even though we were never that close

And even though this pretty crazy,

Tell your brother I sort of liked his nose

 

Tell our best friends that I love them

And I’ll always be there, somewhere near

And above all, when everything is over,

Tell them to stay strong, and never fear

 

Tell my family, all my granny’s and granddads

All my cousins, my uncles, and my aunts

That they’re the best family I’ve ever seen

And that there’s nothing else I’ll ever want

 

As for you, my so-called sister,

Remember that throughout the whole race

You’ve been my strength, and my weakness

And no one’s ever been able to take your place

 

Well, no one else knows that I’ll be leaving

And I guess that I’ll be going for a while

Try to live my life along with yours girl,

And don’t you ever drop  that smile

Author's Note

My best friend and me were talking about our death wishes the other day, so this idea kept swirling 'round my head, and I finally got it down on paper! :D

Nicely written poem. While the content behind it was dark and sad, i found humor in some of the stanzas for instance the fourth stanza about the two men, and the part about the brother's nose. I imagine the person reading this letter would have smiled at those moments even through the sadeness because of all the memories. Good job

welll that was kind of heartfelt ... I hate talking and thinking about death especially to say this to my best friends ,my family and my lover ,, it is so diffiult no matter what you said ,, or how you thought they will react ..they will always feel there is something lost and there is a piece missing in their game,,

That poem touched me so deep , because i suffred the death of my aunt and she was my best friend too,,she died with cancer without saying goodbye ,,that broke me for severla years .. but i hope you live long have life ,,try to enjoy every minuit of it ,because the second that goes by will never be back again ,,
