Untrue Claims

Untrue Claims

A Poem by Aehr

You think you know me better than I do

But I can cross my heart, saying that’s untrue

Do you know, sometimes I wish the sky wasn’t blue?

And it was my mood on which depended its hue?

Do you know that sometimes all I think of is dying?

When I’m just fed up of hiding, pretending and lying?

Sometimes, I lose hope and even stop trying

Then I’m a bird with bruised wings, afraid of flying

Do you know that I always do just what I say?

That even calamities can’t take my will power away?

And that I strive to excel, every time, everyday

And just try to work it out, when things don’t go my way?

And do you know that I’m the clumsiest one on earth

And that I’ve always been that way since birth?

And that sometimes I have no time even for mirth

And that I myself don’t know what I’m worth?

And do you know, that all I think about is you?

I guess that’s just proof that what you claim is untrue

And I’m sure you didn’t get this, and I hope you never do

But just because I mean it: I really love you
