Words

Words

A Poem by Aehr

I never thought that few words

Can break you, or just lift you high

They can either make you feel okay,

Or even make you want to cry

Just tiny little chains of letters

They can really change your day

And I've been effected by these words

In pretty much every way

Whether spoken, or written down in ink

Whether read, or typed down

Little words are very weird things

They can make you smile, or even make you frown

But words are funny things, my friends

They are a boon, but may also prove as bad

Use them wisely, they are very helpful tools

And with them, never try to make someone sad

I've crossed the seas, and seen the world

So you better listen to one thing

Prove your words as gifts from god

So that on every face, a smile they can bring

For when your words are good and true

You never have to sigh

And whine or even regret some things

And you never have to cry

Paint a canvas of happiness with your golden words

Turn the world into a better place

Because words, my friend, are useful things

Use them wisely, and with grace

"Because words, my friend, are useful things

I like the poem. The above logic is true. Words can make or destroy an life. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Nice use of words, they are the hardest to define but, with the right arrangement you managed to make it work making a piece of artwork. As ever thing flowed well taking in the right words to describe words and their many works. Well done well done.

Rhea, you always leave me speechless in awe. This poem is fantastic in so many ways, I must say. In every stanza, you went into depth what words are to you and defined it perfectly well. You're right about words. We're often either laughing, crying, smiling, or mad about choice of words people choose to use. It's true that words hurt. There's a boy in my grade that used to throw hurtful words at my every single day last year. I really started to believe that the words he was saying were true. Now that I look back, I laugh and shrug it off. I could care less what people say about me, because I know who I am and proud of it. God made me this way! Words can also be a lie too. I guess that's what you meant when you said:
"For when your words are good and true
You never have to sigh
And whine or even regret some things
And you never have to cry" --It's better to the truth in the beginning. That's what message I got in this stanza.

You save the best stanza for the last:

"Paint a canvas of happiness with your golden words
Turn the world into a better place
Because words, my friend, are useful things
Use them wisely, and with grace."--WONDERFUL!

I only noticed one mistake, but I don't know if you intended for it to be uncapitalized.
In the fifth stanza, third line--Prive your words as gifts from (G)od. I always captialize God, since he's a proper noun. Though, if you were talking about a "god/goddess" then it's understandable.

To be honest, I don't usually like rhyme schemes as they can be jumpy. But in this, you portrayed the subject along with the rhythm and rhyme perfectly. Wonderful job.

"effected" in the second stanza should be affected. other than that, it looks great :) and it's a wonderful lesson. Reminds me of Thumper in Bambi, saying "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" ^-^ well done!
