Longing For SummerA Poem by AehrI long for the heat, for the days of May For swimming in the ocean, for the light of day I long for the juices, the drinks and the ice And all the tangy, juicy edibles, which in summer, taste nice
I long for bright colours, the sun, and the beach And the holidays when you don't have to hear teachers teach I long for the tan, the friends, and the fun When at ten you can smile, and say 'the night has just begun'
I long for the sun kissed days I can spend in the fields And unlike winter, from the cold, when I need no shields I long for the quiet starry skies at night And dandelions and daisies at every single sight
I long for the harsh, lingering cold to end I'm so much more alive in the summer, my friend I want the breeze and the light to visit again I miss the long walks in summer down the lane
