Dolls

Dolls

A Poem by Aehr

Left locked up in a box
Called useless, dead, and old
Dresses once loved, now torn
Faded is the hair, once gold

Some arms are now loose
Houses now faded and dusty
The silver screws on the windows
Now totally red and rusty

I remember those long evenings
They were silent friends I had
Now looking back on those days
I do admit, I feel sad

What cruel fate dolls have!
Living their life being played with
When not needed, tossed away
Into the trashcan to be done over with

something i wrote about the cruel fate of dolls. poor dolls, made, played with, and when girls grow up, they're left. I regret doing the same with my old dolls when I was younger.

A lucky doll could find a new home with daughter of the girl who grew up. I like the desire and the purpose of the story. I kept my daughters dolls put away. So far only Grand boys. Thank you for sharing the excellent poem.

I love how you wrote about dolls, and made it something interesting to read, it's a clear sign of your skill! Dolls are friends until we grow and move on and yes, forget about them :(

Great poem! The rhyming scheme is just so beautiful-it makes the poem so lyrical and free flowing. It is so unforced, it was almost like the words came out in rhyming without even trying. Your description really reminded me of all my dolls and if a writer is able to make you remember scenarios in your life, then he/she definitely deserves my utmost respect:)
Ok, I now feel so guilty for doing the same to my dolls:L
Anyways, as I always say, keep writing!
