9th April 2012: The Day That FollowedA Chapter by Aehr9th April, 2012 Dear Iris, Mom finally found the time to catch up with my school gossip. Well, she was cooking most of the time, so I’m not sure how much she’s retained. Hope’s doing well. She’s made so many friends in just one day. She’s quite social. Today, I tried to jazz up my style a bit, you know, change my look and stuff. Not because Jacob’s joined the bus. It’s just that… well…. Okay, you got me. I told you that I like Jacob, and I want to look good around him. Mom says it’s normal. It is, right? Anyway, so today I wore a white colored plain, short, dress with my matching belles, and a white clip on my curly brown hair. I was quite satisfied with my look. Hope was looking awesome in her normal blue jeans and that gorgeous yellow top we brought her yesterday. She’s such a little princess! So the
bus ride till school was eventful. Jacob was wearing a pair of “Hey, G’morning” I said, smiling. “Hi Des, slept well?” he asked. “Yep!” “Hey you know what?” “What?” Jacob sighed. “You’re looking awesome” I blushed. “I’m flattered” And I was rewarded with another one of his side-smiles. That was so cute! In a few minutes, we reached school. As usual, Claire, Rose and Sophie were there. We got down, Jacob went to class and I began talking to my friends. “So girls, does anyone have library duty after school today?” I asked, in hopes of spending at least some time with my peers. Even when we didn’t have anything to talk about, it was awesome to have friends around! “I do!” Sophie said, finally looking up from her book. We smiled and made our way to class. The assembly was long and tedious. Principal Lawrence kept talking about disciplinary issues and instructions and all that nonsense. No one really paid any attention. The soccer team had its practice that day after school. That meant Kristy was staying back to cheer on her boyfriend. Which meant she wasn’t going to stop irritating me. At all. I took so many notes today! I’ll tell you what happened in the Chemistry class. Kristy and her bitchy pride were talking and giggling in class, that too, about Robert Pattinson, when Mr. Frank was telling us something about neutralization reactions. Suddenly, he looked at Pauline and said “Miss. Gregory. Would you please stand up and tell us about neutralization reactions? I’m sure the class would love to hear the explanation from you.” Now, thinking is really a huge job for Pauline. She’s just a stupid face. So she stood up and actually, very confidently said. “Neutralization reactions are when… we add nutritious stuff to chemicals, and well… something goes boom!” And she was beaming a smile, like she’s done a very good job. The whole class burst out laughing like crazies. Jacob and his friends were making jokes. My stomach was aching. I mean, by laughing. Mr. Frank himself giggled a bit. But then the laughter died down, and Mr. Frank said “Pay attention, Miss. Gregory.” He was just getting back to the lesson, when the bell rang. Mr. Lawrence scribbled some homework on the board, and left the class. For some reason, Kristy and her pride went out too. I got my books for the next class. Mrs. Hue was late. I was just having a look at the chapter we were going to start today, when Jacob came and sat on the desk next to mine. Looked up from my book, and smiled. “Hey, princess” he said. “Hey. Pauline is so stupid, right?” I said. “Yeah, she’s dumber than Quail.” “Hmm.” I looked down at my book again. Then it occurred to me. Jacob was in the soccer team too. “Hey Jacob, you staying back for practice?” “Nah.. I’ve resigned from the soccer team.” He laughed. “When, why?” I was shocked. “Well… I just got something better to do.” “Better? What is that?” He didn’t answer. “See you around” and he smiled. That was it. He left me wondering about this new ‘hobby’ of his. I glanced at my watch. Mrs. Hue was REALLY late. I left my books in my desk, and went to the washroom. I went into one of the cubicles, did what’s supposed to be done there, and came out. My hair was looking a bit messy, so I tried to fix it up a bit… …Till I heard sobbing. I glanced behind. All the cubicles were empty. There was no one near the door and there was no one near the sink. I walked to look a bit further and where the last cubicle wall ended, I saw someone crying, with her head against the wall. That someone was none other than… Sophie. I went to Sophie in a hurry, and wiped her tears. “Hey, Sophie, what happened?” I asked. Her glasses were in one of her hands, and one of the lenses was broken. She didn’t say anything. She kept on sobbing and suddenly wrapped me in a hug. I hugged her back. Something was wrong. “What happened Sophie? Tell me, I’ll help you” I said, desperately wanting to know what was wrong. Sophie’s tears stopped falling. Her sobbing turned into soft sniffles. “Des, I was in class. Ryan…Ryan was talking to I nodded, as she told me the rest of the story. After
Chemistry class, Kristy had gone to see Ryan. And she pushed Sophie out of the
way. But that was not why she had cried. When Kristy was in full on s****y mode
with Ryan, Vanessa, Pauline and That was when Sophie couldn’t take it anymore, and she punched Vanessa on her cheek. Vanessa reported everything to Kristy, and the bitchy pride jumped over her. Together. She just left and came to the washroom, crying when Kristy and her group were laughing. Ryan saw everything, but Sophie was sure he wouldn’t go against his girlfriend. Anger was building up within me. Bad anger. It had only been one day since 9th grade, and Kristy had already started with her bitchiness. She was too scared to fight me off, so she decided to take revenge from Sophie, and take advantage of her shyness. “I think we should tell Claire and Rose.” I said as I took Sophie’s hand, and stood up. “No, Des please don’t. Let it be.” Sophie said as she stood up. “Let it be? We need to fight them off. They think too much of themselves.” “Okay. She said.” But we’ll tell Rose and Sophie tomorrow. “Okay.” We decided to talk during our library duty after school. But when we reached the reception, we found out that the library shift was cancelled for the day. I was going to give Kristy a good piece of my mind that afternoon, but alas. I was acting normal throughout the day then. Didn’t talk much with Jacob too. Mom made lasagna for dinner, and it tasted heavenly! Hope’s very happy. She’s going to have a sleepover party with one of her new friends, called Becky this weekend. So, she’s on top of the world. Tomorrow, we’re going to show Kristy her place. We’re going to punch them hard. We’re going to take revenge. Oh wow. Tomorrow’s going to be fun. Forever and Always Destiny
