Love Story : Now and Then

Love Story : Now and Then

A Poem by Aehr

Spiky-haired Romeo
Juliet in jeans
Gone are the days
Of kings and queens

No family problems
All that is just lame
Through the passage of time
The love remains the same

They now have e-mails
Instead of letters
They type from the keyboards
Instead of birds' feathers

Instead of in parties
Or walks in the town
A head banging rock concert
Is where their love is found

Spiky-haired Romeo
Juliet in jeans
Gone are the days
Of kings and queens

I've known that there have been different times... in terms of technology, laws on decorum etc. I did not reflect much on this particular topic before i read your poem. The fact that instead of pens and keyboards, there were bird's feathers in use, is profound. "...A head banging rock concert is where their love is found" makes me smile. The rhythm and flow of the poem has been well-maintained. The rhyming appeals to me too. It's a really amusing verse. There is a humorous tone to it.

Good rhyming .. .. I got a letter the other day, about fainted ..lol .. Does anyone get photos made and put them in photo albums ? .. Without the puter, we would not communicate at all it seems ... sigh ..

Oh yes, yes, yes! This is just brilliant!

The opening lines itself were just priceless. Our notions of love have changed a lot, haven't they? But I don't think substituting letters with emails have made love any less meaningful. Sure, flings and deception have increased, but true love is true love no matter which era it unfolds in.

But I can't deny that we all wish for our very own fairy-tales to come true. ;)

This is Cool.
Beautiful idea.
(i miss the era of letters.Emails do not sound heavier than a letter.

yea, same here. letters are so much more mysterious and exciting than your boring e-mailbox.
I like the referencing to modernity here, cleverly thought out love :) xo
