When I DanceA Poem by Aehr
Whenever I dance
I try to look cool But when I get my chance I end up a fool They laugh at my footwork My expressions, they suck And the only encouraging words are Hey, tough luck I can't smile when I dance Baffled, I start again The steps, they confuse me And attack my brain But I can dance well you know, If they ask me to Provided, I do my own steps And if I'm dancing with my crew If the music is awesome And the atmosphere is fine I won't even mind dancing From six to nine But the steps they're teaching now They're hard, and I look clumsy When I do them before the mirror I laugh at myself for looking funny At school, I'm a coward And I dance because I have to But if you ask me to dance on my own I won't mind showing some moves to you © 2012 AehrAuthor's Note
