Why?

If the government is against child labor

Then why do they give us homework?

If we finish our syllabus in school

Why do they tell us to do more work?

If a girl and a boy can be best friends

Why do adults have curious eyes?

If they say that all dreams come true one day

When they don't, why aren't they surprised?

If reading and writing are good things

Why do they call us geeks?

If trendy teenagers look awesome

Why do others call them freaks?

The word 'Why' makes me ponder

On each and every question in my head

And some of these meaningless questions

Are what you have just read

i like the first stanza its very clever!
about the second stanza, people do say that, but i guess it depends on the situation. if this person saw how you work hard on it then he/she will be as disappoint as you.If they saw your not working hard on it then you achieved it, then they will be surely be surprise. if they saw your now working hard on it then the look of surprise is not so evident on them...
about the third stanza. well humans are judgmental in nature...if only..
if only others think of themselves first before throwing ugly judgement.
if only they think twice before saying something.
if only they think of its effects on the person they judge.
~on the contrary be who you want to be.. dont mind others..you are what you are and nothing can change that..
and the last stanza...they are not meaningless questions..they are what you've experienced...
for me this is a thought provoking piece for almost everyone experienced this..

I think this poem could be a little more concise. It somewhat rambles in different directions and the full point of the poem got sidetracked.
I liked the flow of the poem, however, and it is humorous in a satirical and biting way.

I love the satirical why - 'If they say that all dreams come true one day
When they don't, why aren't they surprised?'
Only one say in that line right?
And i can imagine how frustrated that homework must have made you that you have decided to pour it in your writing :)
