Dear Iris

Today again, I have come to tell

That once again, all is not well

Of my life, another part

Another page, and my broken heart

I wish I knew, what's going to be

I wish that the future, I could see

My life is torn, like pages of journals

My face is expressionless, like that of in funerals

But you comfort me, even if you don't speak

Because all my strength, hidden you keep

I'm so glad I have you, I just hope that you understand

That through every passing problem, you've been my helping hand

Author's Note

This one is not my best, I know, but it's an ode to my diary Iris. She's been through everything with me, and I'm really glad to have her, because she comforts me and she's someone I can go to when I'm sad or frustrated, or if I simply need to share my feelings with someone.

We all need to purge our thoughts to find relief from the overwhelming sadness or to share in the elation of things when there are no ears around to hear. This was a beautiful thought ..Many times, I have a good laugh with friends I have mentioned in years back in my diary childhood diary. You call this not one of your best?! I loved it - how you described the special bond a person has with that little book which holds our biggest, most precious secrets. Diary-writing is really calming, though I stopped last year when my sister peeked and found out... um, let's say it's one of my most mortifying secrets, and she hasn't let it go until now.

Anyway, good job, and I love your diary's name. Reminded me of a certain cupcake-throwing goddess! ;)

o yes, the goddess. I never really pondered upon the thought! :P Silly me! An d thank you! See, the thing is, my little sister and mom know all my secrets, so i'm a totally open book in front of them. But I like recording my feelings. And Iris and I share a very special bond, just like any other does with his/her diary. And you are right. It is really calming. During hard times, when I write to Iris, I break down crying sometimes. The tears fall on the words written, and the writing messes up a bit. So, I can still figure out at what point of time I was crying. lol :P

I know how a good friend a diary can be. I miss Mystery (my diary) but I don't write in her anymore ever since my mom saw her. I love it. Shelving it :)

I really like that line, because I seem to always tear out pages of my journal and it reminds me of my life sometimes.
