The Firefly

Like the smile of a friend

You light up the dark

On a sheet of black

You are the only spark

You are left unnoticed

By many who pass by

You are left unheard

Whenever you  cry

But you, you are beautiful

You twinkle at night

And I forget my fear

When I see your comforting light

Fireflies are the only insects that don't force me to scream like a banshee, apart from butterflies. (Cockroaches. Ugh.) Like you said in the poem, they're actually comforting. I love how you compared their light to a friend's smile.
