One Fatal Look

One Fatal Look

A Poem by Aehr

One look
And her beauty paralyses you

One look
And you drown in her eyes

One look
And you stiffen like stone

The slithering sound invites you
To sneak just one peek
To see the almond shaped saucers
Holding the poisonous beauty within...

Her eyes, they kill you
Turn you as cold as ice
Those divine and fragile eyes
You won't even realize...
Death will capture you
Just one look...

This poem is inspired by the Greek myth of Medusa, which says that one look in her beautiful eyes paralyzed anyone into stone, even though her face was ugly.

I thought I sensed a certain aspect of it that referred to Greek Mythology. I do like how you connect Medusa and death (or at least that's what I think it is).

In the first 3 stanzas I thought you were talking about looking into a vampire's eyes or something. But then I read on and then I was like, "Oh, it's about Medusa." Nice job and I love the color font :)

i like the colored text because it connects you to the freezing look of death. is it about Medusa? or just Death? if Death then i like making Death female since Death is stereo typically male. Great job!! i really enjoyed this poem!! :)

if this is about Medusa, you have got to include some kind of snake imagery--because I didn't see that at all. Not a fan of colored text, never have been. I like the ellipses
