One Fatal Look

One Fatal Look

A Poem by Aehr

One look
And her beauty paralyses you

One look
And you drown in her eyes

One look
And you stiffen like stone

The slithering sound invites you
To sneak just one peek
To see the almond shaped saucers
Holding the poisonous beauty within...

Her eyes, they kill you
Turn you as cold as ice
Those divine and fragile eyes
You won't even realize...
Death will capture you
Just one look...

Author's Note

Aehr
This poem is inspired by the Greek myth of Medusa, which says that one look in her beautiful eyes paralyzed anyone into stone, even though her face was ugly.

There are a few like Medusa out there .. Beauty isn't the only draw, it is an aura ... Once smitten, forever lost, in those eyes that paralyse .. ... Death comes in many forms... and I like the way you express the danger ...

Good one ! .. Jazz

thanks Lalaine!
Oh ok it was a good that you had the authors's note because I thought to myself "how do eyes slither?" lol....but moving on the second line in the poem says "the" instead of "their". The poem was good but I think it could be better. This seems like it could be an outline of a great poem. I didn't think about Medusa either when I read the poem, I agree with the other review that you might want to add some snake imagery or more of the myth into the poem.I am not a fan for color text either and I felt this particular blue color was too bright for the darkness of the poem. Maybe a darker blue. But I did like the poem. I just think it has the potential to be more

I like the poem. The myths allow us to reach in and find story of power and fear. The woman who could capture you with one look is a dangerous person. I enjoyed the tale and the very good ending. Thank you for the excellent poem.

Creepy! I thought it was about love or something at the first two stanzas, till i read the last one.
Yeah, it reminded me too about that medusa, there's a film about it, Perci Jackson, check it out, it's awesome.
Thanks for sharing..Keep it up buddy :D

Chilling. Good font choice and color. It definitely added to the coldness you were trying to convey. Nicely done.
