The sky wasn't blue, it was cold, and grey and mirthless. Winter had arrived and the birds were migrating, the trees turned into skeletal figures, and the ground was hard and littered with dead leaves. However, the downcast weather did not deter the 9 year old girl from coming out into the lawn every day, swinging on the porch swing and watching the sky. She did this because of a story her father once told her.
"Did you know that when you look into the sky you're looking into the universe, my mother told me this and I will tell you now. the universe is an endless place full of adventures and I believe that after death our spirits will journey into the universe. So when I am gone, all you have to do is look into the sky to find me."
Every day, whether rain, snow, hurricanes, or even hail the girl came out and looked up at the sky for an hour, hoping that maybe her father would be there waiting for her to finally see him.
