That Wall

That Wall

A Poem by Rhea752

I'm trapped behind that old stone wall
Pounding away
Pounding away
Shouting, screaming out for help
Somebody help
Somebody help
I'm stuck alone for now
Alone in the world
Alone in the world
No-one cares enough to come
Nobody cares
Nobody cares
I'm trapped behind that old stone wall
Pounding away
Pounding away
I'm stuck alone today
And nobody knows
Nobody knows

While reading this I couldn't help but picture in my mind what it must have been like for the character of Fortunato in Edgar Allen Poe's, The Cask of Amontillado. If you've never read it, the character was coldly bricked in to a wall within the wine cellar of the main character of the story.

Though I know this poem is more metaphorical, it captures that feeling well.

Oh man, that would be such a drag! Stuck forever. But perhaps this is meant as in you feel mentally trapped behind a stone wall, like you feel like you can't express yourself to others? Either way it evokes great emotion, and i enjoyed it!

I actually started reading it aloud. Yelling at parts and whispering the repeated lines.

You're very welcome :D
The repetition is nice. However I think it's slightly over done. The image you put in my mind also reminded me of the Egar Allen Poe's poem as well. What ever is going on in your life, I'm sure that there is someone out there who cares enough to help. You'll break that wall and leave it in the dust :) Good job.

You're welcome. Same thing applies to your friend however.
I like the use of old stone wall as the main imagery and great emotion to go with it. Good work.

Why apologize? You've crafted fine lyrics, and haunting as well depending on the mental state of the reader. Well done.
