Broken Mask

I hate putting on  

This accursed mask 

That wears a smile 

Every day 

Hate pretending 

That I'm not crying 

Underneath 

Hate how nobody sees 

The real me 

I hate lying 

To myself 

And my family 

Hate feeling 

Like I'm nothing 

Hate this broken mask 

For not fixing everything 

I hate me 

For willingly wearing 

This thing 

For not taking it off

And setting myself free

This is pretty much me everyday. I connected to this instantly. I love it. I hate putting on the mask too. Although, sometimes I really want to, but I can't and I fail at it...anyway, I love this poem.

Great write! I like the short, choppy lines... And I don't know if you meant to do this or not, but I like the lack of any sort of punctuation... I was reading it as if the narrator was saying this all in one frantic breath, and at the end there was a gasp for air.
