Love Sonnet 130

Love Sonnet 130

A Poem by Reyvrex Questor Reyes

The sun has settled now below the waves,
To dim the land as shades of dusk are drawn,
My muse upon the daylight's spell still raves,
And craves the thrills that  have, by now, been gone;
So were your smiles which  sprightly beamed  awhile,
And  vanished like the day engulfed by night,
And to this loss my heart would often rile,
If not for hope that  things  would soon turn right;
But days are spent like leaves that fall from trees,
Or waters of the rivers or swift streams,
Or else, as passing fancy, fleeting, flees,
Like episodes of unremembered dreams;
…….Yet  days will come again, need not be mourned,
…….Each breaking dawn will be with thrills adorned.

I had to read this more than once; that's how deep the message was. Indeed, our lives are nothing but repetitive cycles, and the only thing that keeps us alive is the hope of waking for the next, better, day. My favorite lines were:
"But days are spent like leaves that fall from trees,
Or waters of the rivers or swift streams,"
They sum up the message of your poem. I get the sense that you're free, and not afraid or bound by the rules of punctuation or linguistics. You simply write. I have a lot to learn from you. I think you've read more Shakespeare than I have. You took this to another level. A+

I like the feel of old tale and story.
"Yet days will come again, need not be mourned,
…….Each breaking dawn will be with thrills adorned."
The old way of speaking want and need left us with true feelings of the moment. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

This is a very well-written Shakespearean sonnet. The poem is very true to its form, which is very important here. The romanticism is clothed in the lofty elegant language befitting the dignified love story portrayed. My favorite line was "Like episodes of unremembered dreams". I think the flow of the poem was lovely as well. Very swift and smooth. Some of the syllables have the wrong stress, but I think that's a fairly minor point give the overall impact of the poem. Well done!
