Lyrics to the song Your Hand in Mine by Explosions in the SkyA Poem by Nick ReynoldsThis is a purely instrumental song that i wrote lyrics to; however, my lyrics ended up being more of a story. oh well, that's what happens. I just kind of let it go and this is what happened because of it. The flowers bloom as the water falls, while the old man waits for his time to come. You don’t care how and you don’t care why, the colors swirl around you in the summer light. They show who you are and who you wanna be. You try to run away, but they always find you. The sadness swallows you up in the evening dark, but you crawl towards me in the morning light. Your hand in mine is just what I need to feel. You hand in mine, nothing can feel this real. What you want to see, what you want to do, I will do it all, if you ask me to. Loneliness, oh the loneliness, since you walked away, now I don’t see your face, in the mirror, I don’t know what to do, without you. I’m lonely, I’m lost, I’ve gone away, where you’ll never find me, and you’ll never look, for what I’ve done, to you. You took your things and left, left me with nothing, just sadness, sadness and regret. Why must it end, this way, eithout your hand in mine. Oh no. the sadness leaks in like a broken roof, on an empty house, pouring water in, down the dry cracked walls. It all ends, the dream is done, the paint falls off, like the old men die, but I’m still here, oh I’m still here. Just waiting, for my time to come, where you’ll come back here, to my sad retreat, and pull me out, of this loneliness, of my regret, and disappointment. Oh where’d you go, oh when are you coming back, to me. I need you here tonight. I need you here right now. I need you back.Your hand in mine, the feelings, all come back, to me, when you come back, to me. I try to feel alive, is there some way to keep you, away, from the other pulls, on your tender heart, pulling oh so hard, trying to get you away. © 2010 Nick Reynolds |
