Forgive to Forget

Forgive to Forget

A Poem by Raven Wilson

Forgive to Forget
The question is: can I forgive you yet?
What you've done,
What you've said.
Is it worth it to forget?
If I harbour this hatred
- let it fester and bleed
will I gain the satisfaction I need?
will I gain the revenge I seek?
Let go and Let live.
Forgive to Forget.
I just can't forgive you yet.
Would you expect any less?
What you did
and What you said
Can I afford it to forget?
If I do
will my soul be absolved?
Is it my soul that needs redemption after all?
Or is it yours-
a creature so vile.
Is it me who is in denial?
Forgive to Forget.
Live and Let go.
Do I ignore all that I know?
Is there a right to this wrong?
Has there been only one answer all along?
To Forgive and Forget
I can't make that decision yet.

I felt all kinds of emotions in this poem. Its funny how we know we
have to forgive to move on, but it almost feels as if are slapped in the
face again by being told that we are not justified in holding on to our
anger.

Its also funny how forgiving is simply letting go of the resentment.
We usually seem to think that we have to go into reconciliation if
we forgive...instead of simply going to a neutral place where the
people who have upset us don't exist anymore.

There is a lot to think about here. Bravo!

There are so many times when we wish to forgive somebody just so that we can forget it..just so that we can free ourselves of the hurt, of the misery..
Times when we know its not fair.. when we know the other person doesnt deserve forgiveness so easily..
This poem highlights a very strong trait of human nature..
An amazing poem.

A strong poem with excellent flow. Whilst I liked the way to dealt with the subject matter, the structure was what impressed me the most.

This was a great poem in my opion. It flowed very well and was captivating to read. I got the sense of someone getting their heart broken and still being unhappy with the person who broke their heart. This may or may not be the intention of the poem, but it is what I get from it.

very emotional and very thought provoking. I love the way that you have put the occasional rhyming couplet in, rather than making the whole poem rhyme. Well done

Hard to forgive and forget. I like the desire and the questions raised in the poem. Forgiveness can make peace in the heart and mind. But sadness will be a permanent tattoo to educate us to be wiser. Thank you for a excellent poem.
