LadiesA Poem by Raven Wilson
The sight before you
shows little true nature - a gentle hand - a calm face - a cool demeanor Beneath my skin I feel on fire my eyes dance. If I were free to be the me beneath my skin would you look at me as you do now with no ugly crease upon your brow Beneath my skin are emotions improper. Storms are brewing Could you see me, still, as a lady? Would you love me if you could see beneath or are you in love with an image no woman can keep? Bundled in layers with slippers beneath - a corset - some petticoats Is this all you see? A tiny waist of artificial means rosy lips and pinched pink cheeks is this all in a wife you seek? Are you looking for a wife or are you looking for me if the latter you seek its beneath my skin - buried deep the truth is there - easy to see
