InsideA Poem by Reverse FairytalesThis poem captures the childhood of an modern American child. It mainly speaks of screens: ipads, televison, etc.
The screens that take us in between
The outside and the inside Too surprised, excited to see the screen The brightness of the screen, steals our attention We sit on our couches When there's mountains And rivers And things to be discovered We remember moments, physical conversation Emotions, feelings, happy times We don't remember our high scores Because points on a game are nothing But a day in the sun is everything A memory, a thought A twinkle in an eye There is so much to be discovered But yet we sit inside It's really an analogy, an example Inside, isolated from the outside Inside, when everything happening is outside We spend our time watching reality shows Because our realities are too boring We fly planes on our screens But if we could just look up, we would see it. Real plants, grass, ice, snow. It's real. But screens are fake. Screens are inside. © 2015 Reverse Fairytales |
