A Poem by Cahjli Symes

Bright lights

Day fall

So glad you
Ignored my call

As I suffer

In these sheets

My dry lips rub
Against my teeth

The smell of blood

Is on my breath

With the taste of
Guilt and shame

can you hear me now?

can you hear me now?

As I choke on your name.

can you hear me now?

As you cut me again.

can you hear me now?

You're just the same.

I bang my head
To the sound of silence

Will you calm me down?
Or treat me to your violence?

As i kissed your lips
You forced a grim alliance

Is it really science?
Or just mental defiance?

I sense a lot of cynicism in this well delivered poem. I would go with mental defiance ;)

Wow. This would make a good spoken word poem, I think. Really great work. :)
