Dabs and Yoga Paints

A Poem by Cahjli Symes

Patient zero, where did your heart go?

Looking out the window, dancing in rain

I know these days I haven't been the same.

As we laughed and cried, staying up all night

An infected youth in which seek truth

As the virus spreads, I vomit up blood

Submerged in a gene-pool of sorrow

Looking forward to tomorrow

But I can't escape the pain of today

The pain of your lost, burden by hatred

If I had known, I'd keep my breath sacred

This letter's to show my lifeline has faded

Appreciating you but my thoughts are outdated

The first of my love and the last of my friends

Being infected made it all go to end

I argue about doctors, fearing for your life

The virus took over, ending our strife

Choking on vomit, my throat's inflame

Convulsing alone as I die in shame
