ImmortalityA Poem by Shaker LoopzIf only I could
live forever Become a god
amongst men My days would be
endless As life would
never end
If only I could
fear nothing Death, disease,
nor stroke I could remain
forever youthful As the world grew
old
If only our presence
was limitless We could circle
the Earth forever As the stars began
to fade We would always be
together
If only death were
just a myth A tale of things
once known But as our planet
began to die The population
would continuously grow
Riot, contagion,
upheaval, disease Would stricken us
to our beds But the suffering
would never end As we lived among
the dead
Resources would
vanish As children
starved in the streets And ill-fated
babies Would just began
to breath
The time would
come When we would
scream towards the skies Begging for our
lives to end, When we truly wish
to die
Mortality and
immortality They are one in
another But if you are
stuck with one You long for the
other © 2013 Shaker LoopzAuthor's Note
