to see

To See

To see without looking
without a distrust of
this human being
that which i am

To not know of something deep
without the truth of that which i have become
and have subdued in the shallow

To see not with these eyes
not with these hands
nor these paper cutouts
of humans that i'm expected to join

To see through this
and hold nothing within
but push out all that is
to whom it may concern

to whom it may awake

to not distrust
this human being
that which i am
to love

my brother
my sister
i know

i know

and i

love

I like how the writing slowly gets less as the poem is read. I suppose I think that the narrator is getting weaker or less confident in their self.

"and have subdued in the shallow" That's my favorite line, because, well, I'm not even quite sure. LOL. Something about it just really gets me.
