I am sorry

How sincere of an apology can I give?

How serene of a tune can I play?

To make you forgive me today

Can it be that if I say :

"I should have never promised you a dream

I knew I could not live in,

Shouldn't have painted your eyes with them

And let the colour go grey"

 

Is it fine if I admit

I lied my way to you, faked what I should not have.

Bribed your mind to stay ,I played your senses to listen

To my song which is just noise that you should not have .

I might have sculpted on  something that

 wasn't mine to sculpt on.

I might have bent your way that was straight for you to walk on

 

I care for you it’s a truth that won't change

It was that feeling that made me do what I did

Don’t worry I will learn to not trust it

But isn't it clear you are not coming back

So what am I doing to me ,I need to live in reality .

Well, not that my opinion matters, but it isn't very often you hear someone apologising and accepting they were at fault, but you do have to weigh that against what the other person thinks and to see if they can forgive you for what happened.
It is not a situation anyone would choose to be in, but give them time to think about it and accept that the balance of power is in their hands now.
I do look forward to an updated version of this to bring us all some good news to begin the year with, or a part two, or maybe even a trilogy.
I guess that you the writer are now in the same place as the reader, wondering if a "to be continued will come to fruition.
I wish you well in that and for a brighter start to the new year.

Dear lorry,
thanks for your review my friend .You are really wise ,I hoped to follow through with your advice and did it . But I must tell you it was a lot harder to wait than I thought .I do not think I will be able to bring myself to write a sequel to it but maybe someday I might. I should tell you there is an happy conclusion to this story , at least for now. I know its really late to say it but wish you happy new year and best of luck in 2024 .(hope its not too late ). :)

I can so feel this. I doubt if I could express it so well. I have felt these feelings throughout my life. As I suppose most of us have.
Although most do not apologise it seems these days. Or am I just feeling old.

Truth or poetry here, the emotions are so real, so painful, that your writing is superb. Second read, notice the near simplicity of what you are saying, nothing wrapped in frills but an out and out apology from your heart and mind. That takes enormous courage and for that reason and this or that not quite said, this poem makes me feel so much for and of you, retreating ghost. Please, please do not retreat into Self but return knowing you show a deep need to be forgiven.

i believe in always seeking for an apology but at the extent of using someone else. i don't know. it is hard to give your heart back to someone when they do something like this...intentionally.
