The Grandfather Clock

The Grandfather Clock

A Poem by Kyle Sky
"

Tic Toc Paranoia from a simple sound

"

The Grandfather Clock

______________________________________________________

Tic Toc Tic Toc

The Grandfather Clock

Tic Toc Sound in the night

Tic Toc Sudden Fright

Tic Toc Eyes fill with blood

Tic Toc Chest goes thud

Tic Toc Skin starts to cry

Tic Toc Throat goes dry

Tic Toc Mind starts to scream

Tic Toc Feels like a horrible dream

Tic Toc Tic Toc Tic

That Frightful Tic Toc

Tic Toc Tic Toc Tic

Of the Grandfather Clock

This reminds me of a song I use to sing as a kid ( My grandfather's clock ). I particularly like the personifications you have made; "The skin starts to cry" I get this impression of sweating in fear!! This poem is strong in imagery, and the "tic toc" word choice adds to suspense. Powerful work.

My hairs stood on end when I read about the part where the chest goes thud. It's really amazing. I hope you make more of your awesome poems.

This is great. It kind of reminds me of song lyrics a little bit. And the personification and detail is great. I can really visualive what's going on.

I myself find the Tic-toc sound of the grandfather clock rather soothing, except when the clock strikes at a new hour.
