Little Car

Little Car

A Poem by Penny Ellen
"

This is for my beautiful little mechanical baby.

"

Miniature and azure, but not inferior;

The outward persona I present to a world

Where staying in lines is rebelling from the norm.

I place my hang ups at the door,

Pull my key ring out and enter.

And I am dented, banged up and faded.

My heart thrums, strains, evens out, but never fails.

I shake, and I get heated, get cold, and I cut corners when I need,

But I am whole, and I am functional and good

Though not always safe.

My eyes are dull, my body curved and

I am decently fast, but nowhere close to decent.

My journey is a long one, a short one, a good one;

Full of Serenity.

Serenity is a blue 94 Geo Metro; the first standard I have ever driven or worked on. She gets 0 respect on the road, but handles like a dream. Best. Dorky. Hatchback. Ever.
