Weird Prompts. Here's another. Thanks for the inspiration.

These words catch in my throat,
knowing that persistance is not virtuous,
and stubbornness is
less than
wanted.
Human is what I am.
Wanting is what I am.
Loving is what I can't
seem to keep reciprocating
for long.

They never understand me,
these boys with their sweet smiles,
warm hands, cold feet.

Always wrong,
always less than perfect,
they turn out to
hurt me
with their shallowness,
their crass, careless and loveless
words.

And I know
that it will likely go on and on
until I lie down to die,
long as I keep
pursuing,
chasing those dreams.

But I can't help
but hope
for one more chance
to find
someone
something
sometime
some way
right.
