![]() No After-PromA Chapter by Penny Ellen![]() Blair's first double homicide!![]()
Prom night was going to be a challenge. The afternoon was shaping up nicely, though. I’d skipped class like every other Senior. Our grades were pretty much solid by now anyway. Even if they hadn’t been, I didn’t care anymore. I had my scholarship already.
The challenge was how to kill the boys standing behind me in Wal-Mart this very minute. One was Ben Thompson, who had been wooing Haley Kensington for the past few weeks. He’d invited her to prom even though she was just a Freshman. Standing here, in the media department of the store, I understood why.
“All chicks put out on prom night” He’d said just a few minutes ago. “And she’s super hot.”
The other guy, Ryan Henry, was in on the gig more than I’d have believed. He’d reserved their motel rooms and was walking around with a family-sized box of rubbers in his hand. And he seemed just as excited about banging the s**t out of his date, Christina Collins. There was only one problem; she was a virgin, and very proud of it. His plan was to get her boozed up at an after-party.
I seethed in anger as I stood, listening to them, fire washing over my senses. If I turned around, though, they would realize who I was, and things might not go so smoothly. I picked up another iTunes card and checked out, thinking of how I would do this while I headed toward the front of the store where Mom was.
How can you discreetly kill two people while wearing a white formal? Good question. But I had to do it before they ruined these girls, and I wasn’t ready.
Skull came over around five, and we got started on each other’s hair, nails and make-up. We were going together. The lady at the front desk selling tickets had almost refused us the couple’s rate until we hugged. If we had been lesbians, the performance could not have been any more perfect. Two mani-pedi’s and an up do later, we were sitting on my bed wallowing in our single-ness. We got all the tears out before we did make-up.
The space we’d rented was beautiful. It was a long ballroom in a fancy hotel, and I felt like a princess walking in with a beautiful date on my arm. The music was loud, and the food was beautiful, and there were white Christmas lights strung everywhere.
We were a little bit early, so we found a table and sipped some punch while waiting for our other halves to arrive. Bunny and George arrived in matching tuxes and tophats. I’m sure that if they weren’t completely and utterly gay, they’d have their pick of any girl here tonight, stag or not. And right behind them, Crimson walked in as gracefully as possible with how nervous she was, because her date cleaned up really damn well.
And I smiled as I recognized Christina and Haley sitting two tables down. Of course prom is meant to be a super-special blur of excitement and dancing followed by insane amounts of booze and sex. That second part was not happening on my watch. My blur was fed by rage and anticipation. The time couldn’t pass quickly enough. After the king and queen were named, I knew the moment was right.
Haley had fled to the bathroom. Christina was dancing with a group of her friends across the room. And both boys were just feet away from where I stood, doing my very best to look tempting. My mind was racing, cooled only by the knowledge that my cravings would be relieved soon enough. One more deep breath.
I sauntered over, feigning a shy smile. “Hi there. All alone?” If I wasn’t careful, I was going to start shaking with excitement.
Ryan looked at Ben. “For the moment. And you?”
“My girlfriend’s dancing.” I smiled wider. Men like lesbians. It’s a fact of nature.
Both pairs of eyebrows twitched in unison. “I’m going out to get some air. Wanna come?” I asked, making it sound as inviting as possible while also making sure to slide my fingers down Ben’s tie. All the way down his tie.
I needed no more persuasion. We headed for the door. And I pulled out the bottle of eyedrops from the bust of my dress. A couple of drops in their drink glasses and…
There would be no after-prom.
