Love…(in the time of climate change)

Love…(in the time of climate change)

A Poem by Renata

I’d leave a light on for you,
Love
but I am not sure
I can afford the bill

or the pain
any crisis would cause
to my non renewable heart
that has beaten itself
countless times
in its foolish idolation
for a struggling return
of kisses net zero

but
should you care to try again,
Love

just follow the winding wind
through a turbulence
of turbines
past the unphotogenic
voltaic power farm
and along the electrifying
banks of the Hydro plant

and you’ll find me
at the end of a trail
of flustered fireflies
shivering in the half light
of a single incandescent bulb
hanging onto hope

where I wait
in witless wonder
to embrace you
once again

just don’t
bump your head
on the way in.
