The Girl who Drowned in Bay Leaf Bay

The Girl who Drowned in Bay Leaf Bay

A Poem by rems

A Girl has drowned, in Sounding Sound, the bottlebrushes sway. a bird-caged boy who wants a crown, will never get away.
Old Sounding Sound, where Ice floes float, is off of Bottlebrush Bay, A house there stands, a house so old, A house on Murdoch Grange

On Sounding Sound, a Whaling Boat, captained by Memphis May, A sailor spots, up on the rocks, A pretty girl in grey.

The girl had floated out to sea, who lived at Murdoch Grange, and not floated back in at all, gone missing til today.

The sailor bid the girl hello, and what else should he say, the girl responded Take me back, back to Murdoch Grange.

But no one lives ashore this bay, Young Memphis had the wit to say, this young girl must be well confused, to say she hails from Murdoch Grange.

The windows hang! the basements caved! the floors have all been rearranged! simply put, you’d be insane, to live in the house on Bay Leaf Bay.

A tale well told in verse. Rare meat indeed.
