Letting Go

Letting Go

A Poem by Mariah

"

losing sight of you

as our paths uncross.

waiting for the light

to wash over my skin

time is a curse on the wind

with a patience running thin

haphazardly, we’re painting our egos

our eyes scan the horizon

our fingers curl around the railing

the roots of the tree of our affliction

we’re daydreaming

in the middle of the night

in the middle of a war

that we never wanted to fight

because there was never anything worth fighting for

sailing across the ocean

like a bird sails across the sky

we want to be birds

we want to sail away from everything

but our ships are sinking

when we deify the human

the soul is changed

could it be were are just a microcosm,

sinking silently?

I’ve lost sight of you

our lives are parallel

in different galaxies

counting down the days until we fade away

light washes over my skin

the sound of the ocean rushing

our hands tremble as we let go

we fall together,

forgetting everything we know.
