Chaos

Chaos

A Poem by Mariah

4/6/09

unease sweeps through me

a thought grips me,

terrifyingly:

the world is too big for me to fix.

negativity

don’t want to be the epitome

of the human race

yearning for triumph

unraveling instinct

oppressive

depressive

impressive.

heresy

hypocrisy

heredity.

the end

the beginning

the undeniable

the changeable

the star-crossed

the fiction

and the lies

the non-fiction

and all that ties us,

metaphorically,

to our world.

the truth is that lies change

and what lies ahead will change.

ink flows,

like blood

spilling

dripping

draining

deoxygenated

the page begins to fill

the lines begin to

spread  further   and    further

apart

but the words never change their size

whoever equated sanity with reason,

well, they lied

I don’t think this mile

is really a mile, after all

I think the world is only spinning faster

to show us what we’ve done.
