If You Were The Ocean

If You Were The Ocean

A Poem by Mariah

If you were the ocean

Your frothy tide would smooth over my mistakes

Leaving my conscience as untouched as your shore

If you were the ocean

Your salty waters would wash away

The imperfection and the hopelessness

Like little broken seashells and abandoned sand castles

If you were the ocean

Your waves would tower above the fear

And crash down upon the doubt

That crashes down upon me

If you were the ocean

Your water would masquerade my tears

Like the disguised surface ripples

That hide so much beneath

If you were the ocean

Life would never stop being beautiful

Like the ocean never stops being blue

If you were the ocean.
