A Poem by reluctantsyren
"

why we smile in pictures

"

Why do people
now
smile in pictures?
Our ancestors were content
to let
Their faces lay
as God shaped them,
Just stark and bare,
To not emote.

This is Me!
Said the photograph,
No happiness was popped
On.

Now we pop happiness on like
A hat
to protect from sunburn,
a coat from chill.
"Smile," Someone says,
and we do so without even thinking.
Creating our reality.

I like this piece. There are multiple layers of actual reality to the ones we create. I appreciate that.
