To a Friend/Lover

To a Friend/Lover

A Poem by Chase

I really didn't know what we were, or what we are, could've been, should've been.
I do know that the voices I hear in my head are always yours, always yours.
I guess that makes me sound crazy, right?
Once I opened up to you, it seemed like you thought I was glass.
You thought I was so broken, so torn. So.. desperate.
Maybe that's why you said you loved me. Maybe that's why I said it back.
My voices are coming back again. For some reason, they're not yours.
I can't even understand what they are saying anymore.
I can't even understand what we are, anymore.

I loved this unusual flow of words..
"I really didn't know what we were, or what we are, could've been, should've been." = such an epic start that didn't disappoint.
