Today I Met

Today I Met

A Poem by ReikiLady
"

Always remember that when you say pain all around you, then you see Jesus. You are the needed change in someone's life and in the world.

"

Today I met a hungry man

stomach hollow

bones showing.

Guilty of nothing but poverty.

He asked me where I was from.

I said,

the land of plenty.

I didn't want to catch the hunger,

I thought of poverty as a disease.

So I went on my way.

Today I met a woman in prison

tear-stained face

anguished brow.

Guilty of nothing but false blame

She asked me where I was from.

I said,

the land of the free.

I didn't want to chance my freedom,

jail bars don't suit me.

So I went on my way.

Today I met a lonely child

expressionless face

hopeless eyes.

Guilty of nothing but others' choices.

She asked me where I was from.

I said,

the land of the busy.

I had too much to do,

people to see.

So I went on my way.

Today I met Jesus.

I went on my way.

Matthew 25:31-46
