I Am That MonsterA Poem by rehab
You lay there sleeping, your eyes shut tight.
It's like a barrier, a force field you turn on at night. You hope to push out the fears, the little things that might be creeping near. You see, if you open your eyes, you might shriek and scream out your cries. You hope to never see me as I really am, so you close your eyes, but all it is, is a scam. I can never be what you want. I am that monster, the one who haunts. I am truly sorry, I can't stop who I am, so if you must, close your eyes, change me in there, but I am still that monster, the one who's really here. © 2009 rehabAuthor's Note
