Happy Birthday, Moon

Happy Birthday, Moon

A Poem by S. Marie

Happy Birthday, Moon
To say that I miss you seems irrelevant but true
Though we are miles and miles apart, you still haunt me in my dreams
I stir awake to this reality where we have parted ways
Time has passed, turning from seconds, to minutes, to hours, to days
But, pain has no watch with hands and ticks, it can only observe the past and present
I still feel the dull knife stabbing at my tender organs when you appear to me
The way it used to feel when we would dance in the night
My waves swaying to your silent song
And though life will continue to move on
I can still hear it
We are forever tethered to one another, even if it’s not in this life
-Ocean
