Closer to Something that Doesn't Exist

We all yearn to be close to something

to someone

whether it will last

or is close to end

We seek and once found

we grasp

with each finger 

not wanting to let go

until there is a choice

the image 

fantasy of what was created 

or 

your sanity

the choice?

all because we wanted to be held

touched

loved

just wanted someone close

to hug us when we are crying

hold us at night

this is the biggest weakness 

that holds each of us captive

all out 

seeking 

searching

for that one to be close with us in this moment

this time 

not letting go

just wanting to be close

forever

close for the moment

hang on for what you have

don’t take for granted what is now 

the present

hang on

just be there

close
