The Burns of Yesterday

The Burns of Yesterday

A Poem by A

Your sideways glances

I can barely catch a breath

I take deep slow

breathe

breathe

with my heart racing

I can’t think

I shiver

smile with the thoughts

you take over

your smile

too much

not enough blood flow

all taking over

all rushing

pulsing

through my heart

I shake

just waiting for

your kiss

your touch

to make me still

Knowing full well

the power

I have given

to yet another

Bound to break

Bound to erupt

onto me

burn

burn

lying, left alone

breathe

breathe

in search of yet another

hoping I can conceal

the burns from before

ready

willing

each time with the dreams set

to be with you

Burn. Baby. Burn.

Ah. Perfect-a-mundo. I don't think I've ever heard it described quite like that, past relationships being burn marks. And then going and wanting more anyway, giving someone else power again. Great poem =)
