Strength from Within

Strength from Within

A Poem by A

I’m going to try to be strong now

I am not going to just laugh it off

I cannot

each time I let you back in

It seems you break it

You break the bond

that made me

trust

and

ever rely on you

I’m sorry

wait

Why?

Am I always apologizing

For Once

I am going to stand up for myself

I don’t need you

Nor do I need what I thought you could ever offer

I need me

I have always needed me

The strength comes not from another

But from inside me

In the depths of my soul

He gives me strength, love

All I could ever ask for

or need

I have waited so long

to be loved

to be needed

to be appreciated

It was inside of me all along

I can rely on me

always

I will never leave myself

or forget

I need not you

I know there will always be a place in my heart

A little cut

with a band-aid over it

Every once in awhile

when I hear a song

or see something

It may bleed just a little

But I will be there to wrap it back up

to kiss it

I will make it better
You will always

maybe

have power over me

But I am hoping just this once

I will be strong enough

strong for me

Strong for others

Strength

I call you inside of me

The first two lines convey such a great point. Being strong doesn't mean being able to laugh something off. It doesn't mean you're bulletproof. It just means you can keep on living afterwards. Strength is in survival.
This poem displays that truth perfectly. Great job!
