Wishful Thinking

Wishful Thinking

A Poem by A

Wishful thinking

Thoughts swarming all around

One from her

One from him

These thoughts

Are strong

Are delicate

Are full of wishes

Wishful thinking

Wishes to go back a year or maybe just a minute

Wishes to be in someone’s arms

Someone gone

Or

Just far away

Although seeming to be the same

Wishes to be someone

Someone other then you

Or

Me

Wishes to be somewhere

Anywhere but here

To be free

Taking off

Don’t we all wish to be free?

Hope

And wishes

Someday

All chains will be unlocked

The key permanently found and thrown away

All ties

Unbound

To never be brought together again

Wishes I guess

Only ever thoughts

Never to become anything

Now

Or

Then

Wishful thinking it may be worth a moment or two

But

Don’t let your wishes take over

Don’t take hours with wishful thinking

Don’t let go to wish for another

Don’t stare off into space thinking your wish will appear

Because then the time you have spent

Is lost

To never be repeated

To never be again

You may then wish for that time over and over

Wasting more and more

Dwelling and wishing

Until you waste away into wishful thinking
